
Both elderly women could hardly see over the dashboard of the big automobile they were driving. They reached an intersection while driving at a leisurely pace. Even when the lights was red, they continued. The woman on the passenger seat pondered.
I must be going crazy. I thought we could have just passed a red light. When they reached another intersection a few minutes later, the light was red once more. They went straight through again.
The woman in the passenger seat was so worried that she was going crazy that she was virtually certain the light had been red. She was becoming anxious. Indeed, the light was red at the next intersection, so they continued.
“Mildred,” she added to the other woman, “do you realize that we just passed three consecutive red lights?” You might have murdered both of us!
