Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller of the White House chastised Maryland Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen after the senator traveled to El Salvador and showed support for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported member of the MS-13 gang. Miller spoke to reporters outside the White House, pointing out that Abrego Garcia had a history of domestic violence, including a restraining order against him in 2021.
He called Abrego Garcia an official member of MS-13, a criminal organization known as a foreign terrorist organization, highlighting the seriousness of his involvement in human smuggling and violence against women, and said the Democratic Party should not have stood by someone like Abrego Garcia instead of offering condolences to victims like Rachel Morin, who met a terrible end, or Kayla Hamilton, who was killed by an illegal immigrant who was freed under the Biden administration.
He asked why the senator showed no concern for these victims or the impact of fentanyl-related deaths among his constituents, blaming them on policies that have allowed cartels to flourish through smuggling and human trafficking. “What about the children in his state who are deprived of quality education and adequate healthcare due to the significant influx of migrants?” he said, “I am utterly shocked.” His compassion seems to be directed solely towards an undocumented immigrant affiliated with a foreign terrorist group.
