This is the first Christmas that my wife and I have spent together in our more than five years of marriage. We were taken aback when my 16-year-old daughter, who occasionally behaves in a passive-aggressive manner toward my wife, decided to spend Christmas with us rather than her mother.
It was a wonderful day until my wife had an emotional breakdown after finding a bra in a Christmas present from my daughter. Thinking the gift was intended to make my wife look foolish, I confronted my daughter. I insisted on punishing her by making her clean up after our guests, even though she denied it.
I stopped my daughter and forced her finish the tasks when she attempted to depart with her stepbrother. She yelled at me for being unjust, but I stood by my choice until the task was completed.
My ex-wife and her family later attacked me on social media, saying I had ruined Christmas and had taken too many sides with my wife. After a contentious argument, my ex-in-laws denounced what I had done.
