At the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, Halle Berry was expected to shine. To make sure there wasn’t too much skin and too much drama on the red carpet, the yearly festival modified its dress code, so she had to modify her gown.
During a jury press conference on Tuesday, May 13, the 58-year-old actress, who is one of the jurors on this year’s jury, discussed the festival’s ban on specific outfits.

Additionally, the festival reiterated that attendees are not allowed to wear bulky clothing, especially anything that “hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater.”

Halle stated she had to modify her dress because of the ban on voluminous and skin-revealing clothing.
The Oscar winner claimed that due to modifications in the dress code, she had to put the Gurav Gupta design she had originally chosen for the Cannes red carpet back on the hanger.
Instead, she wore a Jacquemus trapeze gown with stripes in black and white.
During a jury press conference, the Oscar winner stated, “I do think the n*dity part is probably also a good rule.”
During the jury press conference, the Catwoman actress stated, “I had a gorgeous Gupta dress that I wanted to wear tonight, but I can’t because the train is too big.”
She went on, “I will definitely abide by the rules.” “So I had to change course.”
She went on to say, “But I do think the n*dity part is probably also a good rule.”

Her clothing and her comments regarding the ban on skin-baring garments sparked a lot of discussion among netizens.
Halle Berry, tell us the truth. Your outfit was just another nud*ty item, similar to the one you wore at the Met Gala, wasn’t it? read one comment.
“That dress made of a circus tent is disgusting,” someone wrote on social media.

Another wrote, “About time ! I am so sick of seeing women exposing themselves openly on such occasions. Thank you Cannes Film Fest for imposing the rule.”
“Good. They all need to start having dress codes,” wrote another. “These things should be classy not trashy.”

Halle is one among the nine jury members—including actor Jeremy Strong, director Payal Kapadia, and filmmaker Hong Sangsoo—at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off on May 13 and will conclude on May 24.
While in France for the Cannes film festival, Halle shared a video of herself in bed with her partner Van Hunt.
She cheekily revealed that she and her 55-year-old partner were ending Mother’s Day with some help from some Let’s Spin Intimacy Gel.

“Since we’re in Cannes, France I traveled with it for the first time. And we’re about to give it a spin,” she said in between several giggles with Van.
The video became a topic of conversation on former Fox News host Megyn Kelly’s podcast.
“She looks very bizarre. Who celebrates Mother’s Day by talking about how to lube up their vag, with their boyfriend in bed, from Cannes, France? This is so bizarre,” Kelly said on The Megyn Kelly show.
She also claimed Halle appeared to be on a “downward spiral” with “more and more weird s*x kitten photos, n*de photos, [and] s*x posts.”

During the Cannes jury press conference on Tuesday, Halle was asked about her thoughts on changing the gender of James Bond in future installments.
“I don’t know if 007 really should be a woman,” she said in response to the question from Variety.
“In 2025, it’s nice to say, ‘Oh, she should be a woman.’ But, I don’t really know if I think that’s the right thing to do,” she continued.

The John Wick star’s outfit change for the Cannes festival came days after she worked up a storm on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet.
Wearing one of the most daring outfits of the evening, the actress was captured in a sheer striped dress with a plunging neckline.

The outfit sparked both admiration and criticism as the Never Let Go actress was one misstep away from exposing her privates.
“Where are her undies?” one asked, while another commented, “She ALWAYS gonna show up half nekked.”

Designer LaQuan Smith said the dress he put together for Halle reflected the “ethos” of this year’s Met Gala theme, which was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
He told Vogue that the actress knew “exactly who she is and has such a clear sense of style.”

LaQuan described Halle as “incredibly collaborative” and said, “during the fittings, she wasn’t just stepping into a garment—she was shaping it with me.”
Halle said after the Met Gala that she felt “powerful, purposeful, and proud” in the outfit.
“I’d say she should fire her stylist immediately,” a social media user said
