Spending time with their grandchildren is something that grandparents cherish. Recently, a delighted grandfather had a terrific time fulfilling a request from his granddaughter. Maeve, then ten, invited her grandfather to go to a tap dancing recital with her. When his granddaughter invited him, the grandfather was overjoyed.
Tap dancing is a sophisticated kind of dance. To create percussion while dancing, taps are placed on the bottom of shoes and struck on the floor. The metal taps are positioned beneath the shoe’s toe and on the heal. There are several recognized forms of tap dance, including Broadway, Post-Modern Tap, Classical, and rhythm.
“Gramps” Bill Jones is a retired teacher who is 72 years old. He was overjoyed that his granddaughter had selected him.
As she and her grandfather made their way to the dance floor, Maeve felt a little uneasy. Gramps was the epitome of cool. Maeve, wearing a blue-and-white striped outfit, inhaled deeply before putting her hand within her grandfather’s.
The song “When I’m Gone” by Anna Kendrick was selected. When the song was added to the soundtrack of the popular film “Pitch Perfect,” it initially gained popularity. As soon as the music started, Maeve and Gramps tapped with skill. Gramps was slightly older than the other dance recital participants, yet his age was not evident in his performance.
As Maeve and Gramps swayed to the music, the audience fell completely silent. But the two were completely focused.
Jamie, Maeve’s mother, struggled to contain her pride as she watched her daughter and father-in-law perform. She remembers a discussion she had with Maeve about Gramps’s passion for tap dancing. At that point, Maeve made the decision to ask him to accompany her to the recital.
Due to their mutual passion of tap dancing, Maeve and Gramps have always had a unique affinity. The friendship was further strengthened by the time spent together getting ready for the routine.
Following their outstanding performance, the grandfather and granddaughter reveled in their mutual pride. Jamie watched the video of the performance so many times she finally decided to share the moment with the world.
