A Rotherham family was told to vacate their house on Monday, and they now risk being homeless.
Parents Due to overdue rent, Amy Winter and Joshua Thain, together with their three children, are scheduled to be evicted from their home on Brunswick Street in Thurnscoe.
After several months of unpaid rent, a judge ordered the family to vacate the residence on January 31. However, Amy and Joshua claim that Barnsley Council is aware of the problem and has not assisted. Amy, 26, and Joshua, 27, who are both on Universal Credit, reside with Sky, 5, Daisy-Mae, 4, and Lexi, 18 months.
The couple’s fourth kid, Macauli, age nine, resides with Amy’s mother. Amy is presently five months pregnant. It’s so horrible that we don’t go out or anything because we’re frightened,” Amy told the Huddersfield Examiner. I’ve approached my family for assistance, but they are unable to provide housing assistance as they only own one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes.

“Instead of telling us one thing and then another, I believe Barnsley Council needs to get off their ass and figure out what they’re going to do.”
The tenancy agreement was in the name of Joshua’s late mother, Victoria Robertshaw, who passed away in August at the age of 45 after testing positive for COVID-19. Sanctuary Housing owns the house.
