According to St. Vincent and the Grenadines authorities, Christian Oliver, the star of the movies Speed Racer and The Good German, and his two daughters perished in a plane crash in the Caribbean.
The police added that the jet was traveling to neighboring St. Lucia when it crashed on Thursday, just west of Petit Nevis island near Bequia. They were flying in a single-engine aircraft that reportedly experienced some issues early on before crashing into the lake.
As per a statement from the Royal SVG Police Force, local divers, fishermen, and members of the coast guard rushed to the scene to render assistance.
Military personnel were eventually able to recover the bodies of those onboard the plane: Oliver, his girls, Madita, 10, and Annik, 12 and the aircraft’s pilot and owner, Robert Sachs from Bequia.
The cause of the collision is still unknown.
The actor had just wrapped up filming his final sequences for the upcoming film Forever Hold Your Peace, according to Deadline. On Thursday night, Nick Lyon, the director, shared a picture of himself and Oliver on Instagram.
Lyon said that he and the late actor collaborated on five projects over the years, saying, “We discussed making a movie together for years and eventually did it.” “I appreciate you being such a wonderful friend, coworker, and actor.”
Lyon went on to describe Oliver as “such a beautiful person and a brave actor.”
“The deep bond, infectious laughter, and adventurous spirit shared by Madita and Annik will be profoundly missed in their communities,” said Oliver’s ex-wife, who is also the mother of their daughters, in a statement.
Oliver’s family and his girls are in our prayers and thoughts. I hope they find peace.
