A McDonald’s restaurant has been charged by the Council on American-Islamic Relations with purposefully including bacon in a Muslim family’s meal (see the video below).
The family ordered 14 sandwiches from a Decatur McDonald’s while they were in the area from New York, according to AL.com.
They discovered the bacon, which is strictly forbidden to adherents of Islam, as they were having their dinner.
The head of the CAIR branch in Alabama, Khaula Hadeed, stated, “They began to notice it tasted different to them.” “They frequently eat McDonald’s McChicken. They were aware of what they had ordered and the contents of the sandwich.
Hadeed saw this as an outright assault on the family.
“Especially on 14 sandwiches, it doesn’t sound like a mistake,” Hadeed said, referring to the incident as “an intentional act of religious and ethnic bigotry.”
Hadeed has since reported that one of the adults puked twice and is calling for an investigation.
With regard to the family, she stated, “They’re basically disturbed about it.”
“McDonald’s should look into this incident, find and fire the employees involved, and take proactive measures to allay the worries of this American family, beginning with an apology.”
Some believed the accusations and felt sympathy for the family.
One AL.com reader commented, “I have definitely witnessed ‘good Christians’ acting cruelly toward people who are different.” I’m not sure what transpired here, but I can understand someone assembling the sandwiches in a way they knew would offend… I like to trust the Muslim family, and they added, “I think some jerk put bacon in their sandwiches to make someone who is ‘other’ feel bad and humiliated them.” “That, in my opinion, is un-American.”
“Decatur is a hotbed of religious fanatics on the alt-right who don’t tolerate anyone who doesn’t look like a Baptist,” someone else said.
But some weren’t very understanding, and others weren’t even convinced.
One wrote, echoing the sentiments, “It’s a scam.”
Yes, I don’t think any McDonald’s employees did this,” someone else wrote. “I would say that the employees in the back aren’t looking to see who their customers are 99 percent of the time.”
