Four teenage men barged into my garage on a calm Thursday night and demanded my car keys. They knocked me to the ground before I could react. They were surprised, however, by my two 280-pound Pit Bulls, rescues who were my darlings but fierce fighters when it came to the issue.
My dogs charged and growled ferociously when the invaders entered my home. One of the men stumbled over himself as the others frantically fled. My dogs watched me to make sure I was alright.
Despite the common perception that pit bulls are dangerous, mine saved my life that evening. Consider adopting a dog from a rescue if you’re considering getting one; you might be saved as well.
